HOME CONTROL AT A NEW LOW PRICE

Imagine this scenario, you are at home in the evening and decide to kick back and watch a movie. You settle into your favorite chair, recline and pick up your one handed touch screen remote. You remember that your children asked you to leave their lights on while they went to sleep when you put them to bed half an hour ago. You look at the remote and can see the lights are still on. With one touch you dim those lights to 10% or turn them off.

You then touch the “Watch Movie” button and within seconds a long list of complex settings are completed for you. Your surround receiver turns on, sets itself to the right input, sets your preferred listening volume and dims its front panel. Your TV turns on, sets to the right input and switches to the ‘Cinema’ settings mode you prefer for movies. Your movie server has turned on and presents an array of films for you to choose from on screen, or your DVD or Blu-ray player has started and is ready to go. At the same time your main room light turns off and other room lights dim to your ‘watch movie’ scene, blinds or drapes gently close, your AC thermostat sets to your preferred level, your front door has locked, the outside security lights turn on and your alarm system sets to perimeter monitoring. Your pop corn machine has heated up and is popping corn; the movie starts and you relax while watching a fantastic picture and being enveloped by a high quality sound track. All from just one button press.

This level of Home Automation has been available for some time but was out of the price range for most of us. It could cost hundreds of thousands and involve weeks of expensive programming and miles of wiring which needed to be installed as the house was built. Not any more…

All of this can now be achieved with one hand held touch screen remote and wireless control modules that link together to form a mesh network. For example a module can be a light dimmer switch, an AC thermostat or an appliance plug connector plus others. Each one provides feedback to your remote showing its status. You can control as much or as little as you choose. We simply replace your existing switches, thermostats, etc. with new ones. No new wiring and you can upgrade step by step if you prefer.

Costs are very reasonable starting at just $699 for the remote. Dimmers are $135, thermostats are $99 and other modules are similarly priced. Installation is very quick and programming ranges from $75 for an A/V component to just $20 for a lighting module.
