Home Theater or Media Room design involves much more than the selection of Video and Sound equipment. First we start with the space. Room size plays a major part in sound quality and should be dimensioned to minimize reflection, cancellation and resonance issues. Acoustic treatments are important for sound transmission (both in and out of the room), absorption, reflection and diffusion. The design then needs to reflect the choice of screen size and ratio (16:9 or 2.35:1), Seating, Projector type and throw distance and ambient light levels, plus many other considerations before you address the aesthetic finishes, materials and color scheme. Of course it is not always possible, or desirable, to set up a room from scratch and often you will want to simply convert an existing space, or use your family room, and except the in-built design limitations.
